Sign up for an account with Amazon's Digital Text Platform. There is no charge to create an account. You need to have this account before you can publish Kindle ebooks on Amazon. If you already have an Amazon.com account, you can log in with that email address and password and begin publishing ebook content on Amazon.
Format the book you want to publish. It can be formatted as a Word file, rich text file or as HTML. Use a standard font such as Times New Roman or Courier (12- or 14-point font size), tab for indents, and use manual page breaks. Format the book as you want it to appear in the Kindle edition. You can include a JPEG graphic for the cover, but it will only appear as black and white in the Kindle ebook.
Go to Amazon and click on "Publish on Kindle" from the "Features and Services" menu on the left side of the page. This will take you to your Digital Text Platform account. Once inside your account, click on "Add New Item." You'll be presented with a form to fill out regarding your book.
Type the title of the book, write a brief description, and include the name of the publisher. The name of the publisher will be your name or any name of your publishing company. Other information you'll include will be the edition number and an ISBN if you have one (if not, Amazon will provide a publishing number). Check the boxes indicating you have the rights to the book you're publishing, then click on the "Upload and Preview Book" option. Upload your book and preview it to make sure it looks the way you want it to look, then enter your suggested retail price and submit. Your book will appear on Amazon within 72 hours.
