Research Kickstarter Creative Funding. It allows an author to post a description of his work, and request money from donors to pay for it. Set a deadline for the acceptance of funds. You will be awarded the grant if you receive the money before the deadline. The request is removed -- and the donors are not charged -- if the required funds are not received.

Grant amounts range from $50,000 to $120,000, and are distributed over the course of one to two years. You must partner with a non-profit organization -- whose work is related to your book's topic -- if you receive this grant.
