Turn on the computer. Go to the Menu bar, in the “Start” button (if your computer runs an XP Windows, click on the "Microsoft" flag icon), and go to “All applications.” Search for the "Microsoft Office" tab. Click on it, and then click on "Microsoft Word." Whether you own Microsoft Word 97, 2003 or 2007, do not fret. The three of them share almost the same features and can perform the same tasks.
Start writing. It is recommended to separate the main title from the rest of the paragraphs. Use one Word page to write the main title.
Once you finish writing, go to the options in the right-bottom corner of the page. This option is available in XP, as well as in 2000 and 98. The only difference is that in both 2000 and 98, the options are in the left-most corner. You will see four different icons. Choose the one with the picture of an open book.
Now you just configured the page to look like an open book. You can make changes or modify by writing in it. This is how your book will look.
Configure the page frames. Go to the Toolbar and click on the “Page Design” Tab. Once there, go to the “Margin” option. You can decide a pre-determined margin configuration or you can customize the settings to create a new margin configuration. It’s up to you.
Once you finish writing the whole novel or story, proceed with the elaboration of the book cover. In most of the cases, writers employ book editors or composers so that they can create a colorful and compelling book cover. But you can do it on your word processing program, without wasting money. Microsoft Word enables the user to place pictures in the same document and to print it as a whole book with different chapter headers.
