Purchase a bound-lined book like an old diary, notebook or journal.
Write out a new word you come across during your day. This word can be anything as long as you are unfamiliar with its meaning.
Continue to write the sentence that it was used in, where you saw it, and leave a space to write the meaning of the word.
Look up the word in a dictionary and write its meaning under the other information.
Skip to a new page if you have a new word, or draw a line under the information for your first word and continue with the next word.
Review your words once a day and test yourself on them once a week. Mark off words that you know and review words again if you're still unfamiliar with them.
Organize the information in a way that's easy for you to refer back to it on a daily basis.
Pull out an old plain notebook or purchase a new one. If it's a large notebook, draw a line halfway between each page to separate the pages.
Have your child draw a picture depicting the word on the page.
Write or have your child write a sentence that correctly uses the vocabulary word.
Have your child draw another picture, depicting what is happening in the sentence she chose.
Continue this with the rest of the vocabulary words on his list.
Review these words with your child daily.
