Children's books are books that are specifically written (and occasionally illustrated) to appeal to children. These books include genres such as picture books, fiction and non-fiction and even poetry or verse. There are numerous publishing companies that specialize in producing children's books. Whether the publisher is well known or not, there is sure to be a publishing company to suit every children's writer and book.

    • This is a Minneapolis-based publishing company. Free Spirit Publishing primarily publishes books that deal with issues many children face, including divorce, prejudice, self-esteem problems and even succeeding in school. The company promotes publications that offer real-life information offered up in a child-appropriate way. Free Spirit's books have long been used by school teachers, parents, in home school curriculum and by organizations such as Girl Scouts of the USA.
