_Quo Vadis_ is a historical novel set in ancient Rome during the reign of Emperor Nero. The novel follows the lives of several characters, including Marcus Vinicius, a young Roman patrician; Lygia, a beautiful Christian slave girl; and Ursus, a powerful slave who is also a Christian.

The novel portrays the conflict between the early Christians and the Roman Empire. Nero, who is depicted as a cruel and tyrannical ruler, persecutes the Christians and blames them for a devastating fire that destroys much of Rome. The novel also explores the themes of love, faith, and redemption.

_Quo Vadis_ is considered to be one of the most famous and influential historical novels ever written. It has been translated into more than 50 languages and has been adapted into several films and television series.
