Look through books, magazines and online resources for pictures of dark fairies and pixies you would be interested in drawing.
Use a pencil to lightly sketch the frame/body of the fairy including an oval shape for the head. Breaking down the drawing into basic shapes such as sticks for arms and legs and boxy, bell-like shapes for a fairy dress is helpful especially if you are new to drawing. This also makes it easier to add detail later.
Draw in some facial guidelines such as a light line down the middle of the oval which will help keep facial features symmetrical. Continue to sketch the face and body, adding details like hair, facial features (eyes, eyebrows, mouth) and details to the bell-shaped dress.
Shape wings based on preference. Options can include butterfly, insect and bird-like wings. Continue to shape the legs and neck based off your original stick figure. Add details to the eyes, ears, hands and chest such as making the ears pointy and the eyes large and sinister-looking. Chest includes detail to the fairy's dress or other outfit, also based on personal preference.
Add additional details like fairy wands and footwear if desired. Color the fairy using dark colors like red, black and dark purple and green to make you fairy look as 'dark' as you wish. You can give your fairy an evil expression and draw or color the surrounding paper to place her in a dark bog or other dark environment.
