How to Draw a Cartoon Person

Learning to draw a cartoon person is much easier than you think. First of all, features of the face can be represented with simple shapes and marks, making them much simpler to draw than the realistic versions. Second of all, you don't have to worry about whether or not it looks like a real person - because it's not supposed to!

Instructions

    • 1

To draw a cartoon person, start with the bottom portion of the head. This can be any shape you want. The only rule is that it cannot be a NORMAL head shape. I will give my cartoon person a long and skinny oval shape for a head.

Next, add the eyes. Again, anything OTHER than normal eyes is acceptable. I'll make my eyes extra large, close together, and a little higher than normal.

    • 3

Now draw the nose using the same rules. Remember - to draw a cartoon person, simple shapes or marks are the best.

    • 4

Next add the mouth. I'll make mine extra low on the face.

    • 5

Now add the ears. I think I'll make mine too low and way too small. I will also add pupils to the eyes, and a nice skinny neck.

Last add the hair. The simple shapes rule still applies. You don't need to draw every hair, just make a shape for the hair. Do you see how I used a sort of a starburst shape? You can draw a cartoon person that is imaginary, or make a cartoon person based on someone you know.
