How to Draw an Orchid With Microsoft Paint

Microsoft Paint is a program that makes creating any sort of freehand or on-screen picture easy and accessible. It offers a wide variety of options, from "pencil" and "pen" settings to different "paintbrush" sizes, shape creators, erasers and color-fill options. Drawing an orchid on Microsoft Paint can be done best by using a paintbrush tool and taking advantage of the program's numerous color choices. When drawing an orchid on the computer, the key is to use a steady hand and take your time.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Paint by clicking on the "Start" button located at bottom left of the screen, selecting "All Programs," then "Accessories," and finally "Paint."

    • 2

Choose which paintbrush size you'd like to use from the tools panel on the left of the screen. For best results and easiest technique, select the largest paintbrush size available. Choose which color you'd like to start with; there are a few different shades of purples and pinks that match classic orchid colors beautifully.

    • 3

Using a steady hand, carefully form the petals of the orchid, using a picture as a reference. Fill in each petal with the color you used to draw it by selecting the "Fill" option from the tool panel. The "Fill" icon looks like a small can of paint that is being tipped over. Return to the paintbrush option, select a color that varies only slightly from the original color, and add detail to the outside and inside of the petal.

    • 4

Change the colors on the paintbrush to complete the middle, leaves, and stem of the orchid. For a realistic touch, instead of simply using one color like green, try using the darker green with lighter green combined for more detail. When the orchid is complete, click "File" on the top left of the screen and select the option to save your picture. It can now be uploaded or sent from your computer at any time.
