Purchase materials. You will need one sheet of colored construction paper, a glue stick, a digital camera and the ability to print out your pictures. You may want to use scissors that give the edges of your pictures a wavy or jagged look.
Select photographs. The selection of photographs depends on the person to whom you are giving the collage. If you are giving the collage to your mother on Mother's Day you might select photographs that capture the different aspects of your mother's personality. If you are making a collage for your teacher, perhaps you can select pictures that relate to teaching in some way.
Print your photographs. Once your photographs are printed you can cut them out and begin arranging them on the paper based on what is either visually or thematically interesting. In other words, you might put a picture of your teacher in a green sweater next to a picture of a red apple because red and green are complementary colors. Or you can group all the pictures of your mother happily holding her grandchildren in one section of the collage and all the pictures of her at work in another section.
Glue down your pictures. Let your collage dry and present it to your recipient. For a more professional presentation have the collage framed or go to an art supply store to pick out a frame for the project.
