Place your picture face down on the bed of the scanner and close the lid. If your drawing is bigger than the bed of your scanner, you can either buy a bigger scanner or use a digital camera to record and transfer the image.
Scan the picture. First make sure both the computer and scanner are turned on. Then open your imaging program, such as Photoshop. You can also use Windows Photo Gallery or Mac iPhoto, but Photoshop has better image-enhancing capability.
Open the import command and then import the image from the scanner to your imaging program. The computer should commence the scan automatically.
View the image through the imaging program and make whatever changes are necessary. In most cases, this will just entail resizing the picture to a smaller size, changing the resolution and choosing the best file. For web images your resolution will be 72 pixels and your file format will be either jpg, GIF or png.
Save the picture in the appropriate folder.
Set up the drawing in a well-lit place, where you can get focus on the entire drawing with your digital camera. Make sure you adjust the camera for either daylight or tungsten lighting, depending on the situation.
Shoot the picture. Take several pictures at different angles or distances.
Connect your camera to the computer by a USB cable or remove the media card from your camera and insert it into the card slot on your computer.
Open your imaging program and import the image from the camera or media card.
View, adjust and save the image as you did using a scanner.
