One of the simplest things to make for the holidays, a Christmas ornament can be made by rolling a small ball of clay in the palms of your hands. After it's been put in the kiln, it only needs decoration. Painting the Christmas ornament with red, green and white paint will allow for the ornament to appear more Christmas-like. The ornament could also be painted with snowflakes or ginger bread men on it.
Making a Halloween skull is the perfect project for Halloween. The skull can be made by using a balloon, papier-mâché and clay. Blow the balloon up and cover it in four layers of papier-mâché. After it dries, stick a needle through it and pop the balloon. Put the modeling clay over the entirety of the papier-mâché skull and then shape the clay to form the features of the skull. Let it dry and then paint or spray paint the skull white or whatever color you prefer. Paint in the eyes and nostrils of the skull black.
A Valentine's Day heart made from scratch makes a lovely hand-made gift. Roll the clay into the palm of your hands and then flatten in by rolling it out onto the table with a small rolling pin or a can. After it's flat enough, trace a heart shape using a clay knife. If you have a cookie cutter, that may work best for a perfect cut. Allow the clay to dry and then paint and decorate the clay with Valentine's Day colors; pink and red. You can write a personal message on the heart in letters that stand out from the rest of the colors to make it special. Let it dry.
