How to Cover an Eyebrow Piercing for Work

An eyebrow piercing is a surface piercing commonly worn with either a curved barbell or captive bead ring. The most common material for eyebrow jewelry is surgical stainless steel, which is silver in color. Although the piercing is small, it is quite visible, which may cause a problem for employers who are not body modification-friendly. Fortunately, there are several methods of temporarily hiding your eyebrow piercing. After the initial six-week healing period, you have multiple options for hiding your piercing.

Things You'll Need

  • Clear eyebrow retainer
  • Bandage
  • Tygon tubing

Instructions

    • 1

Brush your hair over your piercing if you have bangs. If your piercing is new and your hair is long, cutting shaggy bangs that land just below your eyebrow can hide your jewelry while you heal.

    • 2

Wear a clear acrylic or quartz glass retainer in your eyebrow piercing. This is the best option for hiding the piercing while keeping it healthy. Eyebrow retainers are almost invisible and, in the case of the quartz version, can be autoclave sterilized prior to insertion.

    • 3

Insert a piece of flexible Tygon tubing, closing off the ends with internally-threaded clear acrylic beads to hold it in place if desired. Tygon can also be autoclave sterilized, and most piercing shops certified by the Association of Professional Piercers keep some in stock for performing surface piercings.

Wear a small round bandage over a new piercing in an emergency. Place the padded part of the bandage over the jewelry and make sure the sticky portion does not touch the entry or exit holes. Clean your piercing according to your piercer's aftercare instructions as soon as you remove the bandage.

    • 5

Thread a short section of clear fishing line through a fully healed piercing. Tie the line in a knot and snip off the ends with a clean pair of scissors.
