How to Customize My Tattoo Font

Tattoos can be created from custom designs that range from personal sketches to downloaded photos. Artists display their work in the tattoo parlor and online but the custom nature of body art allows you to request a font change if you would like. Requesting a particular font for your tattoo instead of sticking with one you do not like increases the likelihood of long-term satisfaction.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a font that you want in your tattoo by searching the internet, drawing it out yourself, or asking your tattoo artist what they suggest. A few options are tribal lettering, calligraphy, Arabic or computer fonts. Consider the aesthetic of the tattoo as a whole and whether any pictures and/or colors will accompany it. Some fonts appear best in black and white while others offer enough detail that can be enhanced by different colors.

    • 2

Print out the words you want or draw them out on a separate piece of paper.

    • 3

Bring the design to your tattoo artist and work with them to choose the size of your desired tattoo.
