How to Draw a Cross Tattoo

Tattoos have been around for thousands of years, but weren't accepted through the years the way they are today. Tattoos of sacred hearts, Jesus, angels and crosses are now the norm. Religious tattoo lovers ink their skin to show their identity and their faith. If you are considering getting a religious tattoo, like a cross, draw your own or have a professional create the art that will represent your individuality.

Instructions

    • 1

Set up a work area that is equipped with the items you need, such as paper, a pencil and eraser. You may also want to keep your computer near you to look up different types of crosses that you can use as an example.

    • 2

Draw a simple two-line cross on your paper to begin the drawing. The length of the lines depend on how big you would like your tattoo. You can make the lines symmetrical or asymmetrical depending on what you want.

    • 3

Thicken the arms of the cross. The thickness level of the cross' arms depends on what you want your tattoo to look like. You can also add any design you want to the end of each arm. Draw the stem to complete the outline of the cross.

    • 4

Erase the two original lines in the center of the cross. Shade in the cross if you want a simple one. If you want a cross with detail, draw your pattern inside the lines of the cross and shade it in.

    • 5

Take your finished artwork to a trusted tattoo artist. The tattoo artist will use your drawing to make a carbon copy and use it as a guide for shading your tattoo.
