Instructions

  1. Preparation

    • 1

Chop 2 cups of flowers and set aside. Place the cheesecloth over the top of the bowl. Use the rubber band to secure the cheese cloth to the bowl by stretching the rubber band around the cheesecloth and the outer edge of the bowl. Leave some room for the cloth to move.

    • 2

Place the chopped flowers on top of the cheesecloth. Measure two cups of lukewarm tap water and pour over the flowers. Cover up the flowers with the lid and let sit overnight. The flowers will stay squeezed between the lid and the cheesecloth.

    • 3

Squeeze the remaining water from the cheesecloth and flowers into a pot. Then pour the water from the bowl into the pot. Heat it to boiling. Boil all of the water out of the pot except for about 2 tsp.

    Making

    • 4

Pour 1 tsp. of the concentrated flower water into a small bottle with lid. If you choose to use the scent as is for perfume without adding an alcohol cutting agent, you may do so. Adding additional alcohol to the concentrated essential flower oil water is optional, but if you choose to do so, add a small amount of equal parts rubbing alcohol and water.

    • 5

Pour the wax beads into the glass candle mold dish. Heat the dish in a microwave oven for about 35 seconds until you see the wax melt. Be careful when removing the dish from the microwave, as it could be scalding hot. Use an oven mitt.

    • 6

Add the remaining 1 tsp. of concentrated essential oil water from the flowers to the melted candle wax in the mold. Keep your eye on the wax, and as it starts to harden, insert a wick into the middle of it. Let the candle wax harden and dry for about 12 hours.
