How to Put a Tattoo in a Hidden Place

Tattoos may have once been the mark of criminals, sailors and other irreputable people; however, today they are becoming increasingly popular and widely accepted. According to the Pew Research Center, approximately four out of 10 people ages 18 to 29 have tattoos, with half of those having two or more tattoos. Still, some people who like tattoos wish to keep them hidden. Some reasons to keep a tattoo hidden are respect for a loved one or partner, or compliance with an employer's policy. For those people, putting a tattoo in a hidden spot on the body provides them the self-expression they desire while respecting those around them.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine the size of the tattoo you are considering. Obviously, it will be harder to hide a large tattoo than a smaller one. Trace a copy of your tattoo design onto a piece of paper.

    • 2

Pick a spot on the body that remains concealed, either by clothing or long hair. Some areas to consider are feet, hips, buttocks, private areas or behind the ears. Tape the image to the desired location.

    • 3

Try on a variety of clothing and outfits that you wear, including summer and formal wear. Inspect the area in the mirror; make sure you cannot see the tattoo through or around the clothing.

    • 4

Take the tattoo design to a licensed tattoo artist to have the image applied to your skin.
