How to Cover Up a Water-Resistant Tattoo

Water-resistant tattoos are temporary tattoos that are able to resist the natural forces of water. These tattoos will eventually rub off no matter how much care you put into maintaining them. Temporary tattoos reside on the surface of your skin, so as your body naturally sheds skin cells, the tattoo will slowly be shed as well. You can go swimming and take a shower with a water-resistant tattoo. As long as you don't scrub the area, the water will not affect your tattoo. You may need to cover up these temporary tattoos while they last in order to hide them from loved ones or employers.

Instructions

  1. Using Clothes

    • 1

Wear a long-sleeve T-shirt to cover any tattoos on your forearms. This will also cover any tattoos on your chest or back.

    • 2

Put gloves on your hands to cover up any tattoos you have applied to that area.

    • 3

Pull a ski mask over your head to cover up any tattoos that have been applied to your face.

    • 4

Wear a turtleneck sweater to cover any tattoos on your neck. A ski mask and turtleneck sweater worn together can provide full neck and face coverage.

    • 5

Put on pants to fully cover your lower body, including the legs. This will cover any tattoos applied to these areas.

    • 6

Wear socks and shoes to cover any tattoos on your feet.

    Using Makeup

    • 7

Clean the tattooed area with water and mild soap. Do not scrub the area. Pat the tattoo dry with a towel.

    • 8

Apply the color neutralizer to the tattooed area. Rub the neutralizer lightly in with your fingers until it covers the entire tattoo with an even color. This color does not need to match your skin.

    • 9

Cover the neutralized area with concealer that matches the color of your skin. Use a sponge to gently rub the concealer outwards from the center of the area. Wait for the concealer to dry.

    • 10

Apply a slightly lighter color of concealer to the sponge and gently pat the area. Repeat this with a darker color to give the area a naturally flecked appearance.

    • 11

Brush some setting powder lightly to the area to set the concealer.
