How to Create Fashion Name Logos

Whether you are a serious fashion designer or you sew projects for yourself and family at home, a logo will show that you are the creator. This will make your brand look more serious and your clothes more professional. You can decide if you want to embroider or print your logo on a tag ,and place it inside the clothing, or put it on the outside of the piece for advertising. Creating a logo requires you to make a few decisions in order to brand yourself correctly.

Think about the purpose of the logo. Choose if you would like an image logo, a text logo or one that combines both. If your clothes are often a certain palette, you may want to restrict you design to a few choice colors, or you can choose one that is printed in more than one color. Think about how you want to advertise your clothing, if you want the style of the logo to say something about your business or yourself. If you are planning on printing the logo on advertising material, decide if you'd like the same logo on your clothing, or you'd like a distinctive mark or signature shared between the two.

Pull out your drawing pad. If you have chosen an image logo, start sketching a few to get your ideas flowing. It is helpful to look at logos of some of the established clothing brands to get an idea of what's out there. Remember to keep it simple, most recognizable logos make a strong statement with a single image. If you are not the best drawer, you can print some images or look through magazines and trace the general contours. Then you will be able to alter them to make the logo your own.

Get on the computer. If you have decided on a text logo, log on to your computer and open a writing program. Type in your company name or initials and start playing with different fonts. The logo does not have to be all in one font, all the same size or all on the same line. Experiment until you find a style you are satisfied with.

Scan your image. Trace the outline of the image so it is a dark, continuous line without any smudges or extraneous lines. Scan the image into a photo program on your computer. You can change the color, size or combine the logo with text. Save the file so you can print it on advertising promotions or business cards.

Send your image to a printer. You can either embroider the logo yourself or get it printed on tags. To print the logo on fabric, send it to a professional printer. Look for one in your area, or you can send it to a printer online.
