How to Decorate a Guild Hall

A guild is a group of skilled artisans who come together to share ideas, techniques and trade secrets. A guild hall is the meeting place for the guild, where members might conduct guild business or participate in social gatherings. Guilds are often very old, with traditions sometimes going back to the Middle Ages, when the guild system began; their halls may contain reminders of the guild's history and tributes to the men and women who have belonged to it.

      Put up banners along the walls and across the ceiling to advertise upcoming events and parties that will be held in the hall. You can also advertise the birthday of an important member of the guild or the anniversary of the guild.

      Put pictures on the walls of past and present officials and members of the guild. You may even want to put up pictures of politicians or public officials who are associated with the guild, or who have a history of supporting the guild or the trade for which the guild was founded.

      Place various items that signify and represent the trade of the guild on the walls or on tables along the walls. Commemorative items such as trophies and memorabilia can be placed in a glass-enclosed case along one of the walls.
