Bead & Art Glass Festivals

Bead and art glass festivals celebrate the various craft objects one can make with beads and decorative glass. Such festivals are also places to improve craft-making skills through specialized classes and lectures. Each year, the U.S. hosts at least three or four such festivals, many involving dozens of vendors and awarding prizes for craft-making skills.
  1. New York City Bead and Art Glass Festival

    • As of 2010, the admission price to this festival was $5. It features over 30 exhibitors who are admitted to the show based upon a jury's selection. Other crafts on display are gemstones and jewelry. One additional feature of this festival is the "Make-It-Take-It" portion, which allows guests to make their own crafts and then take them home with them. Guests also have the option to win prizes, such as a $100 show gift certificate.

Soft Flex Company Glass Art & Bead Festival

    • This festival takes places in Honolulu, Hawaii and (as of 2011) has two weekend events occurring March 4 through 6 and September 23 through 25. Both parking and admission to the festival are free. Like the New York City event, it's hosted by the Soft Flex Company, which specializes in beads and art glass crafts. However, the festival showcases additional crafts, such as jewelry and jewelry findings, which are the components used to assemble jewelry.

    Art Glass and Bead Show

    • The Art Glass and Bead Show takes place annually at the end of March in Madison, Wisconsin. Besides hosting dozens of vendors, the festival also offers classes in different craft-making disciplines. Another aspect of this show is the bead challenge, which awards prizes according to contestants' imaginative use of beads. This event also hosts a "make-n-take" portion. As of 2011, the price of admission to the Art Glass and Bead Show is $7.

    Glass Craft and Bead Expo

    • The Glass Craft and Bead Expo occurs every year in a Las Vegas casino. The expo itself takes place the first weekend of April. However, the craft-making classes, which are held in conjunction with the expo, occur at the end of March and require preregistration. Also, the expo hosts numerous special events, such as lectures and demonstrations of craft-making procedures. The price to attend the expo in 2011 is $15.
