How to Type in PaintTool SAI

PaintTool SAI is a design and graphics program developed and sold by a Japan-based firm. The program has many features and is popular specifically in the Manga community in Asia and North America. Because PaintTool SAI does not offer a keyboard text-entry option, there are two methods to add text to graphics created in PaintTool. These options are creating the letters as graphics by freehand (drawing them in Paint Tool SAI) or by using another program to add text to the final image.

Instructions

  1. Adding Text With Another Program

      Select the File menu from the top-left corner of the screen in PaintTool SAI. Select "Save As," then "JPEG" and "Desktop."

      Open another program that allows typing text on graphics. Microsoft Paint works well for this option, as well as Microsoft Word or Publisher.

      Select the File menu, then "Open." Select the JPEG file you saved to the desktop.

      Click the Text tool and draw a text box. Click inside the box, and type the text.

      Press "Ctrl" and "S" or select "File" then "Save" to save the file.

    Freehand Drawing Text

      Select the Pen or Paintbrush tool.

      Use your tablet or mouse to draw the letters.

      Erase and redraw as necessary. This may take some time and patience to make them look the way you want them to, especially using a mouse.
