How to Paint Fonts

Text can be made to stand out on a sign or presentation by adding color, and selecting a font that adds an artistic touch to the project. Users can make such adjustments in both word processing and design programs at home or at work. These programs also permit users to add images to projects, which can be placed below the colorful text. Users can then bring both the text and images together to complete projects they are sure to be proud of.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch the word processing or design program by clicking on the program icon on the desktop or start menu at the top or bottom of the desktop. Once open, create a new project by selecting "File," then "New" from the window that appears. A blank canvas or document will appear in the work window.

    • 2

Select the type tool from the toolbox located at the side of the work window if using a design program. If working in a word processing program, you don't need to select the tool. A cursor should appear in both cases. Click on the blank canvas or document with the cursor and begin typing.

    • 3

Highlight the text by clicking on a corner letter, and dragging the cursor across it. The letters will appear to have a dark or "highlighted" box around it. After highlighting it, select a desired font and size from the drop-down menu in the toolbar.

    • 4

Choose the "Font Color" button or color palette on the screen, to paint the text while it's highlighted. The button appears as an "A" with a color line under it, and the palette may appear as a box or row of different colors. Click on the color desired to apply the paint.

    • 5

Click outside of the highlighted text to remove the highlight. The font color will automatically appear painted with the color you chose.
