How to Make Text Decorations

The text we read and write, or type into the computer, every day is rather plain to read and this is for a reason: The more complicated the font, the longer it takes to read the words on the page or the screen. In the same way that a wrist watch can be purely functional or a work of art, the symbols we use to translate the spoken word into ink and paper can be purely utilitarian or more artistic and decorative.

     Open Photoshop or a similar image-editing application. Click on the text button in the toolbar.

     Type in the text you wish to decorate.

     Select the text layer in the layers window.

   • 4

     Open the layer styles palette by clicking "Window>Layer Styles" in the top menu bar.

   • 5

     Click on the layer style you wish to use to decorate the text. The decoration will be applied instantly.
