IPhoto is a very easy Apple software application that allows you to design a booklet cover if you are using photos. Upload the photos to the iPhoto library and select the ones you want to use. Go to the bottom of the screen, where there will be icons for Slideshow, Book, Calendar and Card. Choose book, drag and drop the photos, add text if you like, and click buy. You can also create the booklet cover, save it as a PDF file and have it printed at a copy store.
Microsoft PowerPoint can be used to create a booklet cover, but it is a much more complicated process than iPhoto. Begin by going to Start and clicking on Programs. Go to PowerPoint, choose New, and click on "blank presentation." Give the file a name and save.
Next, go to File, and click on Page Setup. Choose Portrait so that the slides will be the appropriate size for the booklet cover. After that you can start inserting your images. Use low-resolution images in PowerPoint so they don't take forever to print.
Choose Insert>Picture>From File, and pick the jpeg file you want to use. Drag the image and resize to fit the cover the way you want it to. Next, go to Insert and click on Text Box. When the Text Box pops up, go to the Colors and Lines tab and click Fill to add color. You can fill in effects and choose different shades.
When you are ready to add text, go to the Insert>Text Box. Type the title and any other information you want on the cover. Once you are satisfied with what you have, bring all the elements together. Put the cursor in the top left-hand corner of the document, click and drag so that you select the entire cover. At the bottom of the tool bar click on Draw and choose Group. This will bring the document together. Preview the file before printing. Do a test page before printing the booklet to ensure that the artwork is not distorted.
