Instructions

    • 1

Lay out your snakeskin on a flat surface such as an outdoor table or a board. Place it scale-side down so you can remove any remnants left on the inside. Remove any remaining meat with a putty scraper or knife, taking caution to not tear the skin. Get the inside of the skin as smooth as possible.

    • 2

Tan the snake skin with a commercial solution, which is available at many home stores or hunting shops. Many of these solutions contain anti-freeze, which should then be applied to the inside of the skin and allowed to air dry in a cool location. Repeat the process until the skin is flat, dried and pliable.

    • 3

Purchase a long black shadow box, as well as some acid-free mat board lining. Red board lining is exceptionally striking for many types of snake skins. Using a mounting paste or tack tissue, coat the underside of the skin and press it to the board, flattening it completely. Allow it to dry before hanging it on the wall.

    • 4

Secure the framed skin to the wall of your choosing, taking caution to hang it out of the way of direct sunlight. Offices, dens or bedrooms are all good places to display a snakeskin.
