How to Make Clay Without Flour & Cornstarch

Homemade clay can be a great way to save money and entertain kids. When you make your own clay, it gives you the option of directly knowing what goes into the product. Using this method, you can avoid certain ingredients that might cause your child to have an allergic reaction. If you'd like to forgo the flour and cornstarch that is in most traditional clay mixes, a simple recipe will do the job.

  • Bread
  • Mixing bowl
  • White glue
  • Water
  • Baking sheet

Instructions

      Take six slices of fresh white bread from a loaf. Select inner pieces rather than the heel and cut or peel the crust off.

      Break up the white portion of the bread into small pieces. Place them into a large mixing bowl.

      Add 2 teaspoons of white glue to the bowl. Mix in 2 teaspoons of water.

      Knead the mixture by hand. Work the dough into a mass or ball until it is the consistency of cooking dough.

      Drop the clay onto a baking sheet. Roll it out flat with a rolling pin and let it dry for 30 minutes.
