How to Make a Vintage Looking Letter

Something about the pages of old journals and notebooks hints of history and romance. The worn, delicate pages add a touch of mystery and nostalgia. Making a letter look vintage requires using paper that looks old, presenting a sense of antiquity. The effect is fairly simple to create at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Crumple paper to give it texture. Flatten the crumpled paper.

    • 2

Brew tea using 1 cup of hot water and one teabag. Pour the tea into a baking pan. Place the paper in the baking pan for about 30 seconds, and then remove it and blot it dry with paper towels.

    • 3

Place a thin, cotton cloth over the paper, and use a clothes iron to iron the paper. The cloth protects the paper from the iron's direct heat.

    • 4

Dip a paintbrush in the tea, and use it to dab tea on the paper. That task adds texture and variety to the paper's coloring.

    • 5

Wait for the paper to dry completely before using it to write a letter. Write with brown ink to help make the letter look vintage.
