How to Create Raster Art

Raster art is digital art made as a raster file type, which includes TIFF, Photoshop, JPEG, GIF and Bitmap. These types of images are grids of pixels. These grids become distorted when they are enlarged, making this type of file only useful for illustrations that will be used in their original form and not become manipulated to fit a specific dimension. The process of making raster art is simple for anyone who has illustration software.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your illustration software and open a new project work space by clicking on the File menu and clicking on "New" or "New Project" from the drop-down menu. A dialog box will appear that asks for your new project's file type specifications.

    • 2

Click on the "Raster Background" option.

    • 3

      Click "OK."

    • 4

Draw or paint your digital image on the raster background the software will provide for you.

    • 5

Save your digital drawing as a TIFF, Photoshop, JPEG, GIF or Bitmap file.
