How to Make a Corkscrew Wreath

Instead of throwing out old corks and corkscrews, show guests to your home how much you appreciate a good glass of vino by creating a decorative corkscrew wreath. The wreath has a rustic flare and will grace the wall above your mini bar or mantle piece with a touch of elegance. To make the wreath a story piece, use an antique corkscrew or one with a family history. You can save up corks from your own bottles of wine or purchase them in bulk at a craft store.

Instructions

  1. Wreath

    • 1

Cover your work space with newspaper and plug in the glue gun to heat.

    • 2

Wrap a Styrofoam ring with a plain, dark-colored piece of fabric and secure with hot glue being careful not to leave any white spaces.

    • 3

Glue the corks to the wreath beginning at the base and working your way up. You can place the corks evenly in rings, or put them at an angle. Cover the wreath entirely with corks so that no cloth is showing. Allow the glue to dry completely before proceeding.

    • 4

Attach your corkscrew to the wreath using heavy wire. Hide the ends of the wire at the back of the wreath between corks. Another option is to attach multiple corkscrews with different styles around the wreath.

    • 5

Loop a piece of decorative ribbon around the top of the wreath and secure with a knot and some glue.

    • 6

Hang the wreath using the ribbon with the corkscrew angled to the side. The corkscrew will provide a focal point on the wreath.
