There are no black notes in music notation. The notes on the staff are either white or black, but do not represent the colours of the actual piano keys.
* White notes represent the "natural" keys on the piano: A, B, C, D, E, F, and G.
* Black notes represent the five "accidental" keys: C#, Db, D#, Eb, F#, Gb, G#, Ab, A#, and Bb. They raise or lower the pitch of the original note.
