Can you discard your own continuous trap card on the field or do have to use remove in Yu Gi Oh?

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, you cannot discard your own continuous trap cards on the field. You can only remove them from the field by destroying them, using their own effect to remove themselves, or having them banished by an effect.

Here's why:

* Continuous Trap Cards are meant to stay on the field permanently unless they're removed by an effect.

* Discards are usually used for cards in your hand, not on the field.
