What are the types of pantomime?

Harlequinade

- the most common type of pantomime,

- usually performed around Christmas and New Year's Eve.

- it traditionally includes a romantic and comedic plot involving stock characters such as Harlequin, Columbine, Clown and Pantaloon.

Extravaganza

- a large-scale pantomime production that typically features elaborate costumes, sets and music,

- and often includes a troupe of dancers or acrobats.

Political Pantomime

- uses elements of pantomime to satirize or criticize political events or figures,

Christmas Pantomime

- a sub-genre of pantomime that is specifically associated with Christmas and the festive season,

- typically features traditional characters and themes, such as Santa Claus, the Nativity and winter snow.
