How to Make a King Cloak Without Sewing

Create a regal fur-trimmed cloak without sewing a stitch. Fleece fabric is a good choice; it looks rich and heavy and it does not need to be hemmed. The cloak can be worn over a choir robe or a graduation gown. Add a belt of thick gold cord around the robe and accessorize with a large medallion on a gold cord necklace. A plastic crown will add the finishing touch.

Things You'll Need

  • Tape measure
  • Fleece fabric
  • Scissors
  • 1 1/2 yard ribbon, 1"
  • Safety pins

Instructions

    • 1

Measure around the wearer's shoulders. Cut a rectangle of fleece this width and the desired length of the cape. Fleece will not fray when you cut it.

    • 2

Pin two 18-inch lengths of 1-inch ribbon to the top corners of the cape for ties. Cut the ends of the ribbon at an angle to prevent fraying

    • 3

Cut strips of white faux fur and glue them around the edges of the rectangle with fabric glue or a glue gun.

    • 4

Make dots on the white fur with a sharpie to make it look like ermine, if desired.
