Dye your hair a bright color, such as pink, platinum blonde, or even purple. Colorful combinations work too, so try different colors in different parts of your hair. They do not need to match -- clashing colors are even more noticeable. Comb the hair upward and spray it in place with hairspray to get a "big hair" look.
Choose vintage fashions from the 1970s. These are easily found in second-hand shops and vintage boutiques. Look for bright colored blouses with large buttons and a Peter Pan collar, skinny denim jeans, cropped jackets coupled with longer dresses, and perhaps a leather jacket from the greaser era of the 1950s to top things off. The key is experimentation. The only rules are to be yourself and be stand out, so have fun with it.
Apply glittery makeup. Bright-colored glitter is central to the glam look. Gold and silver eye shadow and lipstick are common glam shades. Small decals like tiny stars at the corners of the eyes are glam trademarks as well, whether stuck on as decals, or drawn with eyeliner.
Experiment with different shoe styles, especially brightly colored platform-soled boots. These take practice to walk in, so try them on and get comfortable with their unique feel before heading to a party or concert in your new look.
Accessorize your outfit with jewelry. Cheap plastic jewelry that continues the theme of bright, glittery colors will lend the final touches to the look. These characteristics should be visible on everything from earrings to bracelets to belt buckles and patches. Accentuate the look even further with a feather boa.
