Use a table saw to create a 24-inch square of ¾-inch plywood for each pipe stand support you need. Each drape will require a stand support at each corner and every six feet along the line. Use a tape measure and carpenter square to locate and mark the center of each plywood square.
Mount a 2-inch galvanized pipe floor flange in the center of each plywood square to support the pipe stand. Use one ¾-inch self-tapping sheet metal screw in each hole to attach the pipe flange. Drive them in with a cordless drill.
Cut one piece of 1½-inch PVC pipe for each base. Cut the pieces 84 inches long. Use a miter saw for clean, square end cuts. Sand down the edges to remove any roughness or burrs. Fit a T fitting to each pipe that will support the middle of a run and a three way for each corner piece. Use purple PVC adhesive to glue the fittings to one end of each pipe. Fit the open end into a pipe flange snugly so that it stands upright.
Measure and cut 75-inch-long pieces of 1½-inch PVC for each drapery panel you intend to hang. Use the miter saw to make the cuts. Lay one queen size bed sheet out flat for each drapery panel. Use scissors to cut a small slit at each end of the top hem on the sheet to create a pocket for the pipe. Fit one 75-inch pipe through the pocket at the top of each bed sheet.
Stand the pipe stands 72 inches apart, and use a ladder to lift the drapery panels up, fitting the ends of the pipe into the fittings on the pipe stands. Use a rubber mallet if needed to seat the pipes into the fittings to ensure they do not slip out. Fit as many pipe stands and drape panels together as needed to create your space.
