How did kirk Douglas get his stage name?

Kirk Douglas's real name was Issur Danielovitch Demsky. He changed it to Kirk Douglas because he thought it would be easier for audiences to remember and pronounce. He chose Kirk because it sounded "strong" and "masculine", and he chose Douglas because he liked the sound of it.

He adopted the name professionally in 1943.
