Did Gerard butler do his own singing in phantom?

Gerard Butler did not sing his own vocals in the 2004 film "The Phantom of the Opera". The singing voice of the Phantom was provided by Colm Wilkinson, a renowned musical theatre actor who originated the role in the original London and Broadway productions of "The Phantom of the Opera".

Butler's voice was used for the speaking parts of the character, but the singing was all Wilkinson.
