What characters are in plays?

* Protagonist: The main character of a play. The protagonist is usually the character who drives the plot forward and faces the main conflict of the play.

* Antagonist: The character who opposes the protagonist. The antagonist may be a villain, a rival, or simply a force of nature.

* Supporting characters: Characters who help the protagonist and antagonist achieve their goals. Supporting characters may include friends, family members, allies, and enemies.

* Ensemble: A group of actors who perform as a unit. The ensemble may be used to create a crowd scene, a chorus, or a dance troupe.

* Walk-on: A character who appears on stage briefly and has only a few lines of dialogue. Walk-ons are often used to fill out a crowd scene or to provide comic relief.
