Project Ideas for Inventions Relating to Macbeth

"Macbeth" is a haunting tale of murder, mystery and prophecies. The content and language of this great Shakespearean work is the subject of many projects and inventions both in the classroom and the workplace. Masterfully crafted, Macbeth can provide a great deal of entertainment as well as enjoyment for any audience.
  1. Reinvent the Storytelling

    • Perhaps the simplest way to reinvent this text is a modern retelling. It might be a good idea to purchase copies of the play from local bookstores for all the people participating in this project. Assign each person a character to learn about and depict during the production. Have individuals use the character as a framework for their interpretations of the story. This will create a lot of modern interpretations and unique voices. Elaborate costumes and theme music could be used for a more sophisticated feel.

    Narrator

    • Instead of putting on a production which may be time consuming and expensive, selecting one person to play the narrator of a Macbeth "story" may be a good solution. Inventing a character who isa spectator to the major events or a traveling gypsy in the time of the Macbeth tale could be a unique way of presenting the story. Involve multiple people in a project to create the attire and accent of this individual, as well as other personal details that enhance the story. Editing down the script of the play to important lines that the story-teller can narrate is another component in this event. Having students or employees gather for an hour telling of Macbeth will keep people captivated and entertained.

    Macbeth through Music

    • Another creative invention relating to the Macbeth play involve creative song placement. Have individuals read through the play and find songs that somehow relate, either lyrically or in composition, to key parts of the storyline. A disc of a few songs can then represent the entire play, which can be elucidated to someone with simple explanations. This not only simplifies the major aspects of the play, but allows for a succinct and creative way to remember Macbeth. Adding corresponding images or diagrams to the music can help explain the play to students or employees. If this project is distributed among a variety of groups, then a compilation of the best songs representing key events will provide an imaginative retelling of an age-old family favorite.
