Instructions

    • 1

Sit in a tall chair and carefully and thoroughly wind the wraps around your legs and the tops of the stilts. Fasten the quick ties, making sure the stilts are securely fastened to your legs.

    • 2

Bring your feet and the stilts back toward your chair, place your hands on the arms of your chair, and lift your body off the seat.

    • 3

Transfer your weight forward and up onto the stilts, bringing yourself to a standing position. Work your way immediately to a wall and lean against it.

    • 4

Place one palm on the wall and stand beside it on your stilts. Work on lifting one foot on the stilts and then the other until you can march in place. Gradually pick up the pace until you can march in place pretty briskly.

    • 5

Try to remove your hand from the wall and continue to march in place. You may find that you are only able to take a few steps until you need to balance yourself by placing your hand back on the wall. Once you can work your way up to 100 steps without touching the wall, then you can begin using your stilts.

    • 6

Start by walking a little way from the wall then walking back to it each time you begin to lose your balance. Keep doing this until you can walk farther and farther from the wall.
