How to Use Gamut in a Sentence

The word "gamut" can be useful in a sentence but is fairly specialized and easy to misuse. It refers to an entire range or span of something and is generally paired with a verb reflecting a metaphorical movement from one end to another. "Run the gamut" is the most common usage, but "spanned the gamut," "experienced the gamut," or "beyond the gamut" are all acceptable phrases.
