Keith and Margo's Murder Mysteries of Texas specializes in "more realistic" murder mystery activities, promoting the fact that they don't use overly flamboyant actors or stereotypical characters in their performances. Instead, improvisational actors fit in with those playing the game, making the solution that much more difficult. This approach means the games are a little more costly than alternatives. Keith and Margo's Murder Mysteries also provides three levels of difficulty and four kinds of mysteries (weekend, private, holiday specials and dinners). Call to see what works best for you.

MD Resort Bed and Breakfast is a full-time bed and breakfast lodge that occasionally offers murder mystery weekend packages. (Call first to find out when their next one is.) The weekend includes a two-night stay. Guests arrive Friday night, have hors d'oeuvres with the game's other participants that night and play the game all the way through the main event Saturday night, when many guests dress up as characters. The weekend costs $397 for a double-occupancy, as of February 2010. Also available is a cheaper package for $77 per person if you live nearby and just want to participate in the murder mystery without staying at the hotel.

The Murder Mystery Dinner Theater at Riverwalk Cafe offers shows at 8 p.m. every Friday and Saturday. The price includes an all-you-can-eat dinner, show, tax and gratuity. The show's content changes every year but is more of a "play performance" than actually participating in a murder mystery. The theater recommends buying tickets well in advance because the show frequently sells out.
