In the book crucible why does elizabeth think abigail wants to kill her?

Abigail wants to kill Elizabeth because she is jealous of her relationship with John Proctor. Abigail had an affair with John Proctor in the past and she is still in love with him. Elizabeth is now married to John Proctor and Abigail is resentful of this fact. She sees Elizabeth as a threat to her relationship with John and she wants her out of the way. Abigail is also afraid that Elizabeth will tell the truth about their affair to the rest of the town. If this happens, Abigail could be punished for adultery. She is willing to do anything to prevent this from happening, even if it means killing Elizabeth.
