Prior to her appearances on the show, Ortuso was featured on the VH1 reality TV show Make or Break: The Couple.
As part of the cast of Jersey Shore, Ortuso was featured on the cover of the December 13, 2010, issue of Rolling Stone magazine. In July 2011, Ortuso, together with her Jersey Shore castmate Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, authored a book titled A Shore Thing.
In addition to her appearances on Jersey Shore, Ortuso has also been featured in multiple guest appearances on other television shows, such as The Wendy Williams Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
In 2018, Ortuso launched a podcast, "Here's The Sitch with Deena," where she discusses various topics with guests.
Ortuso is also an active user of social media, with a large following on platforms such as Instagram and Twitter. She regularly shares personal updates, photos, and videos with her followers.
In 2021, Ortuso married David Case, a tattoo artist. The couple had previously been in a relationship for several years.
