What is turtle dare?

Turtle dare is a prank or challenge in which someone is tricked into touching a snapping turtle. The prankster will often lead the victim to believe that the turtle is harmless, or even encourage them to touch it. When the victim does so, the turtle will snap at them, often causing them to startle and pull their hand away quickly. This can result in the victim falling over, or even getting bitten by the turtle.

Turtle dares are often carried out as a form of bullying, or simply for the amusement of the prankster. They can be dangerous, however, as snapping turtles can inflict serious injuries with their powerful jaws. In some cases, turtle dares have even resulted in the victim's finger or hand being amputated.
