Where were shakespeares plays performed when it rained or in the winter?
Shakespeare's plays were performed exclusively outdoors in his time, regardless of the weather. Neither The Globe nor any of the other Elizabethan theaters had a roof. Even in the rain or winter, performances would go on as scheduled. Some playhouses, such as The Curtain, had canopies over the stage to protect the performers, but the audience was exposed to the elements. This contributed to the distinctive atmosphere and challenges of experiencing a Shakespearean play during his time.
