At the end of The Crucible, Reverend Parris is left in a precarious position. The people of Salem have begun to turn against him, and he is forced to flee the town. Some of the citizens have realized that the witch trials were a mistake and do not trust their minister any longer. His departure marks the end of his influence and power in the community, and he is ultimately held responsible for the devastating consequences of the trials.
