Why is there such a rush to see Juliet married?
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Friar Laurence is the one who arranges for Romeo and Juliet to be secretly married shortly after their first meeting. He does not rush them into the wedding, but instead advises them to wait and see if their love is true before making a commitment. It is Romeo and Juliet themselves who are impatient and desperate to be together. Juliet's father, Capulet, is also eager to marry her off, and he has proposed a union with Paris. However, he does not give Juliet a lot of choice in the matter and does not consider her feelings or wishes. Ultimately, it is Romeo and Juliet's love and passion for each other, combined with the pressures and expectations of their society, that lead to the rush to get married.
