What is the main idea of Masque Red Death?

In "The Masque of the Red Death", the main idea is the inevitability of death and the futile attempts of humankind to avoid or escape it. The story presents a vivid allegory where Prince Prospero and other nobles try to shut themselves away in a secluded abbey, believing they can shield themselves from the deadly Red Death by indulging in excessive revelry and entertainment. Despite their elaborate precautions and fortifications, the Red Death relentlessly enters the abbey, ultimately claiming Prince Prospero himself. Through this narrative, Poe emphasizes the universal and inescapable nature of death while simultaneously critiquing the arrogance and ignorance of individuals who believe they can transcend fate.
